Last week our school celebrated Matariki. We celebrate this because it is a very special thing acknowledging our Tupuna. I took part in prepping the hangi and also waking up at 5:00 to get the fire ready for when the hangi went in. The hard part was cutting the onion cause I cried. The easy part was doing the rest of the vegetables.
Kia Ora Tamarah. My name is Taleisha and I attend Paihia School. I like your small blog post about the Matariki breakfast. I was also a helper at my Matariki breakfast. I think it was a cool thing to be part of. I was in charge of toast. I hate cutting onions but other vegetables I’m fine with. Was the Hangi yum? How many other people were helping with the breakfast?
ReplyDeleteKia ora Tamarah my name is Tawhiri I am a student at Paihia School. I think your blog post about Matariki and the hangi you guys had is really cool. I cry when I cut onions too so when I help cook I always do the other veggies. Did you find it cool when they lit the fire for the hangi?
ReplyDeleteKia ora my name is Ataahua and I am a year 6 student attending Paihia School, I liked your Blog post about Matariki, it was awesome that you got to help with the fire and the food, I would have loved to do that. You brought me back to when I helped with the hangi for My nans funeral. I enjoyed the photos you added. How long did it take to cut all the vegetables? What was your favourite part about the hangi?
